Typical UP classroom

Spotted! Univeristy of the Philippines classrooms are where young minds meet and shape the future of the nation. Do you think metal bleachers are sufficient? This is not a pier or an airport!!! We need more budget for education. Do know that the biggest bulk of the national budget goes to education? Well, it does not show.

Cielo's doughnuts!

Spotted! Cielo's doughnuts! You know what's great about cielo's? Not too sweet, and not too bland. Give way for the best! Step aside krispy kreme and gonuts. Their market is actually students, there are 2 famous branches, one in front of (The) Ateneo, and one in front of Lasalle Taft.

American Idol 8: San Francisco, Louisville, Jacksonville Auditions

In the San Francisco Idol 8 auditions, there is only two of them that i liked.

Adam lambert sang “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen and i actually loved him! He is also quite hot so that is a plus.

Kai Kalama, unique name, sang “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes” by the Platters and he blew me away, such a natural tone. Kai is also a good son, since he takes care of his mom's ailments and put off his dreams for the sake of helping his mama. Don't you just love good guys, noh?!

Now for the Louisville auditions, i loved two girlalous this time.

Joanna Pacitti, a whole new level of plant, has been signed before and Kara Dioguardi even recognized her. Joanna sang “We Belong” by Pat Benetar and as expected, she nailed the auditions pro-style.

Lastly for tonight, there is only one audition that i liked for American Idol 8 Jacksonville.

Hopefully she will make it through. Anne Marie Boskovich sang "Bubly" with a soulful voice. She is definitely pretty and may come close to Top 24.

Though, joesplace blog has leaked accurate information regarding the top 50 finalists, see spoiler here at your own risk, i will still take a shot on my picks for idol 8 auditions.

Movies: The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas

"The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas" is one of the best movies in 2008. Forget the imdb.com rating for the best movies of that year, i say this one is better. Believe you me when i tell you to watch this along with those i recommended. The movie shall send chills in your spine as you empathize with the amazing characters of the film. The lead character, Bruno, is played by the amazing youngster Asa Butterfield.

Directed by Mark Herman, "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas" is a movie about a boy's perspective of good and evil, friends and foe in the time of the Holocaust. As its tag line suggests - "A timeless story of innocence lost and humanity found", the film shall educate you as that of the Diary of Anne Frank and shall evoke within you a sense of tragic loss and understanding of the meaninglessness of that era in history.

The film has won the Audience Choice Award at the Chicago International Film Festival and has been nominated at the British Independent Film Award. I do hope this film makes it to the Oscars.

Property Guide: Designated Laundry Area

This is the designated laundry area for Riverfront Residences of DMCi. If you would remember, L, we have talked about this cage like structure when we are reviewing specs of Sofia. This type of laundry area is common for condos that does not have allocated laundry rooms per unit, this can also be found in Avida condos.

Travel: 56 Peso Davao Trip

Thanks to Cebu Pacific, we are again traveling domestic to Davao on February 7 weekend as our first travel for the year 2009. I have never been to Davao, so i was so excited to see it next weekend. However, since we booked this at the spur of the zero fare sale, with known risks to our professional careers, I may not be able to go along.

So the tally made by L of people who will or won't go with:

Me = Notradame!
Ferl = Notradame!
Vina = Notradame!
L = Yesterday!
M = Yesterday!
Ciege = Yesterday!

So sad that i cannot go see Davao, I heard it was so metropolitan chic. This parola bar i found at flickr is nice as well. I so want to go na, as in super. Yet, business comes first and I should earn more so I can resign by 2011.

Hayz, anyway, there will be another zero fare sale. And i am rooting that next time, i will be able to go see Davao. Take a lotsa photos you guys of the sights, the food and the men!

Lala Nights: Casa Armas and Cafe Breton with M

While i was so busy at home sleeping the lazy afternoon away post-toxicity mondays, i got an sms from M for lala nights anywhere tonight, as in asap. I realized the gravity of the spontaneous act, M must need a friend tonight. So i got up and wore something with a vest, which i hate, and patiently waited for M's blue auto.

Anywho, we would've wanted to BI ferl to come with, but i influenced him yesterday to not go to work. So we called everyone else, but as usual, the nocturnals have work to do. Though we would've wanted to eat at Eastwood Mall to check out the place, since i have not been there yet. But L was unavail due to a meeting and is such a party-pooper. hehe...

So we ended up in The gardens at Trinoma. We wanted to eat at an upper level place so we decided to check out Casa Armas, a Spanish restaurant located near the exit at Calvin Klein. At first, we thought it was so Antonio's with entrees at 1000+ per plate but it turned out that there are murayta levels on the menu. And it was actually cheaper than Cyma. The 1000 levels are the Paellas.

M ordered the Garlic Chicken and I ordered the Cubed Chicken with ethcos. Believe you me, the menu read more up-there in Spanish than in English. Below is a photo of the garlic chicken. Photo Courtesy of Gem.

Our meal was just okay, nothing wow about it, maybe we should have splurged and ordered the 1000 peso Paellas. Also, the interiors of Trinoma Casa Armas is also so-so, as compared to its neighbors. All in all, Casa Armas is a so-so restaurant, the only perk is that you shall be surrounded with equally up-there people, who are possibly qualified clients.

After the mega-Lala, we decided to watch a movie instead. We picked "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", since its just only showing here in Manille. And even though, i would love to see it again, M and I cannot do with the 2 hours and 45 minutes running time of the movie.

So we decided to eat desserts, true Lala nights style. We chose Cafe Breton and sat al fresco, since M is a huff-puff addict. We then ordered light, some mocha shake icings for me and cafe ole for M and shared the La Pinay Crepe, see photo below. photo courtesy of boxx_120.

We talked about the pending issues over coffee and crepes while people watching. M will retell you guys daw all. He advised me as well that he is just so swamped with everything, but he regularly reads our emails. So he is still in the loop. And the other great news, he is just as curious to BED with us when he will be free. That is something we would all agree to love.

Till our next Lala.

"Be what you can be..."

The day the earth stood still when everyone was stunned by the news --
Rustom Padilla is dead!
And a new person was born... and she became topic of all...
I wonder what the manila gay socialites have in mind.

I was moved to capture this and blog it when my mother and sister made a vehement denunciation against what I called the "bravery" of Bebe. Some maybe expected it, some probably clueless. Many ridiculed and some respected him, I mean her. Some judged her, some accepted her.
I am sure many things have been said... some are negative and some are positive. But no matter what they say, Bebe has only thing in mind that keeps her move on... Be what you can be...

Toxic Mondays: Trinoma with Ferl

Mondays have always been the most toxic day for us. So many things to do, so many reports to be done, so many toxicity levelschuchu to have excuses for after a long and relaxing weekend of fun, alcohol and BED. Heniways, to de-stress on such a hectic day, I have met with Ferl today at Trinoma.

I was actually at work and Ferl was with her familia, and we just met up there to make window shopping and chika. We were actually looking for new office bags and totes. But we ended up looking at jackets for our soon to be HK trip. We are so unfocused.

We compared the gorgeous black zara jacket at PHP 5000+ to a Calvin Klein one at PHP 7000+. Maybe we shall get the zara. But we shall get this jacket on sale. I'm so cheap. (Will post pictures next time, since it's hard to make look-see on the net for these exact things. Mind you, i have new found respect for bloggers who does the same.. so hard.)

BED Saturdays

We went to bed again last saturday night with L, Ferl, Vina, Tibet and Siege. M cannot be there since he has a thing, and we miss our girl. Mind you, we are loving bed more than government or even Embassy. And I must say, Malate is becoming becky cooler nowadays. The crowd is A-okay, though not all A-listers. But hey, aren't we really all!

But BOY was it fun. We saw Rajo Laurel as well, i believe he is a regular at BED. (Here is his facebook, you stalkers!)

So hot the guys at BED. The photo above is from the BED Bacardi event, though last saturday was the Chinese New Year event. L has the pics for that. Also, see Doc Tony's photos of BED events - they're hotter. The albums are locked, but you may ask him for the password via email.

BEDdaf-FUN. I cannot wait to BED again.

Lala Nights: Mcdo weekends

Spotted! Manila gay socialites eating at mcdonalds. How poor of them! They have to rise from the ashes ASAP. Well I hear they are saving up for a rainy day for their Louis Vuitton Singapore trip.

You're My Number One
Sharon Cuneta

Look at me mom

Shining like the sun

Bright as the day

You're my number one

And there's no treasure

That I will cherish like you

And when I smile

They all see you glow

And they all know

You're my number one

My one and only joy

Is to give you my love

(Bridge)

My one love for you

I give through and through

I see you and the signs that bring joy

That all the world can see so clearly

Look at me mom

Shining like the sun

Bright as the day

You're my number one

Music: I Kissed a Boy

One of my favorite songs just had a twist. I love Katy Perry and her single "I kissed a girl", but this remix called "I kissed a boy" from youtuber nengstle is way hotter and way apt for yours truly and company.

watch the hot vid with even hotter photos!

here is the lyrics for katy perry's "I kissed a girl", just change the word "girl" to "boy"

This was never the way I planned
Not my intention
I got so brave, drink in hand
Lost my discretion
It's not what, I'm used to
Just wanna try you on
I'm curious for you
Caught my attention

I kissed a girl and I liked it
The taste of her cherry chapstick
I kissed a girl just to try it
I hope my boyfriend don't mind it
It felt so wrong
It felt so right
Don't mean I'm in love tonight
I kissed a girl and I liked it
I liked it

No, I don't even know your name
It doesn't matter,
You're my experimental game
Just human nature,
It's not what,
Good girls do
Not how they should behave
My head gets so confused
Hard to obey

I kissed a girl and I liked it
The taste of her cherry chap stick
I kissed a girl just to try it
I hope my boyfriend don't mind it
It felt so wrong
It felt so right
Don't mean I'm in love tonight
I kissed a girl and I liked it
I liked it,

Us girls we are so magical
Soft skin, red lips, so kissable
Hard to resist so touchable
Too good to deny it
Ain't no big deal, it's innocent

I kissed a girl and I liked it
The taste of her cherry chap stick
I kissed a girl just to try it
I hope my boyfriend don't mind it
It felt so wrong
It felt so right
Don't mean I'm in love tonight
I kissed a girl and I liked it
I liked it

Travel: Caylabne

I just got back from Caylabne, and girls can i just say, i am glad to be home. As in super. I loved Caylabne when our company went there last year for an event, but going back there again, I must say is a disappointment since i observed too much. More so knowing the fact that the company spent almost a million pesoses for this trip, which they could have had spent on a better resort, such as one in Laiya, San Juan, Batangas or whatever.

Anyhow, Caylabne is a beautiful and serene place. However, they should take care of their beach. Like can i just share, a super cutie office mate got bit by some creature from the water and he was immediately rushed to the hospital. His right foot is numb and it blackened a bit. Too bad for him and for Caylabne management.

The Caylabne cove and port is awesome as you can see in this aerial photo, but their small stretch of beach is an eyesore. The sand is not maintained well and the water is murky and with isolated yucky floating debris. Can you just imagine my disappointment? Also, knowing that there are foreign tourists who decided to check this place only to find out that it was a waste of their precious usd.

Well, anyhow Caylabne can be improved, since there are plenty of room for such.

If you would like to check out what they have to offer, see http://www.caylabne.com.ph/
