Maru Korean Restaurant

The best korean restaurant as of yet - Maru Korean Restaurant. Its located at the former site of Hooters in Harbour Square, Macapagal Avenue. They are also open till 4am daily, with free 8 side dishes. Yum! Love it here.

Good Burger

Spotted! Good Burger healthy burgers. It's not your usual burger joint. It's healthier than your usual fatty patties. You can choose between two types, the veggie and the chicken burger. And there are three sizes, which are good better and best. Among their popular flavors are BLT. I know what you are thinking, if you choose the veggie meat, the bacon will be pork? No, you're wrong! The bacon is also veggie!

Their popular branches are along c5 road in front of SM Hypermart, in Greenhills beside Caltex North Greenhills, and inside the Greenhills shopping area near Itallianis resto.

Secret of Le Bar Galette at Sofitel

Do you know the Secret of Galette - patisserie and chocolaterie at Le Bar Sofitel? I know... and I would love to share it to you, but let's keep it a secret from the commoners shall we? Hush, hush...

You may think that dining in Le Bar's Galette at Sofitel may be expensive more so with its particularly opulent ambiance...

Well, it is actually... Somewhat. But what you may not know (this is the part where I shall reveal the secret), everyday, after 7PM, all the cakes and pastries will be 50% Off. This so they will only serve the freshest pastries everyday. Amazing isn't it?

That means all these fabulous gourmet cakes will be under PHP 100. You can even dine there at Le Bar's Galette with a total damage of less than PHP 200. With Sofitel's perfect staff and the bar's perfect ambiance, who would not go here? This is way better than Starbucks, Figaro or even Cheesecakes, Etc.

So, I usually buy a lot of cakes here for 50% Off, cause I am a cheapo... somewhat. Now last night after my Korean Garden dinner, I ate Mango Cheesecake and Maraciabo (Chocolate) Cake. Yum!

Mango Cheesecake

Maraciabo (Chocolate) Cake

Maraciabo (Chocolate) Cake - Top View.

I also took home the Opera Cake and White Blanche cake. That's the secret. Do not tell anyone.

Korean Garden Jupiter

Can you say Tak Bulgogi? That's Korean food for Chicken Chorva silly. I'm here eating healthy at Korean Garden Restaurant in Jupiter. I think this is the only branch they have. Before they were situated near Makati Palace Hotel. Will post details next. Tata. Yum!

Café Año Westgate

I love Westgate Alabang at this time. Its so serene. There is not much people around. I am dining at Café Año. It is open till 2am every saturday. Though, I'm waiting for what i ordered for a while now, maybe they kept everything na sa fridge since its after midnight. I suggest you visit around 10pm to midnight. Next time, i will post what i had here. But now, i patiently wait. So famished na now! Anobeh? Portugality!

Figaro Coffee: Tuscan Chicken and Chicken a la Kiev

Figaro is my newest favorite place to go for lunch. I have always been a UCC fan, but I noticed Figaro has some a la carte offerings that shall satiate my gluttonous binge for a fraction of the cost. So, I went Figaro.

The Figaro a la carte offerings comes with either coffee or tea. You may also choose a pasta that comes with the meal. As for me, I love Pesto. See, what I usually order.

The other day, I ordered Tuscan Chicken with Pesto Pasta and Garden Ceasar Salad. The Tuscan Chicken is divine.

Today, I ordered Chicken a la Kiev with Pesto Pasta and Potato Wedges. The Chicken a la Kiev would have tasted better with more sauce.

I also always order the Five Cheese Pizza which I super love. This is a must try pizza - not so filling, but truly tasty more so if you add some tabasco chili sauce, then sprinkle some parmesan cheese.

My friend usually orders Chorizo Pasta and some salad. I never liked chorizo sausage though, more so if its in the pasta. Eewwiiee!

We then have the strawberry cheesecake for dessert, which is lovely, a real must try. Not sure though if that is it's name, did not check adamantly, forgive me.

All in all, it would only cost you around PHP 750 for these dishes. Truevali recommends you start lunching at Figaro too.

Boycott Krispy Kreme Eastwood!!!

Spotted! Krispy Kreme Eastwood being the worst branch ever in the world! Don't be deceived by its quaint appearance and ambient lightning, this branch didn't have the sugar rush I needed! Would you believe Krispy Kreme Eastwood Branch in Cybermall does not have the Original Glazed Donuts! What kind of Krispy Kreme is that?! In technical terms, poor forecasting of demand. It's like a Jollibee without it's signature Chicken Joy or Starbucks without Mocha Frappe! Well, it's not really that they don't have it, it's just that it's on a stock out. I will tell you why, and after this, hopefully you won't go to this branch cause it's really frustrating; not to mention you'll get diabetes. Krispy Kreme Eastwood doesn't serve freshly baked (duh it's really fried!!) donuts. Rather they have it shipped or transported from the Fort Branch. Ewww! Kakain na lang ako ng nakamamatay, yung masarap na and of good quality na sana right!?

I think they are open let's say 18 hours a day? They have it delivered 3 times only. That means if I am just so unlucky, I will be getting those 6 hour stale donuts. So do you still want to get your dose of sugar in this branch? No thanks!

Toblerone Cheesecake at Coffee Bean NTL

After my Tuscan Chicken lunch at Figaro, I wait with my fave toblerone cheesecake and OJ at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf Salcedo Park for client payments. Yahoo! After this - shopping!

Globe Telecom Super Surf for Blackberry

Spotted! Now here my review and my tips if you want to switch to Globe Telecom's Super Surf for Blackberry. Before reading this I suggest you read also our review on Globe Super Surf posted some weeks back.

The only difference between Super Surf and Super Surf for Blackberry is that obviously the later is used with the blackberry phone. Caution guys, it is not interchangable, cause the normal super surf uses a different access point, and the blackberry also uses a different one. So if you have Super Surf for blackberry DO NOT attempt to move your sim to another non-BB phone if you want to surf, cause you will be charged per KB since will access internet.globe.com.ph access point. At the same time if you have super surf only, if you put your sim in a bb phone, the bb service won't work.

So here are my steps so that you will be good to go with your emails in your new blackberry thanks to Globe's Super Surf for Blackberry.

1. Activate your Super Surf for Blackberry via the Globe business center or via 211 customer service in your handyphone.

2. If you are currently with Globe Super Surf only, have it switched to Globe Super Surf for Blackberry and remind them to waive the pre termination fee (remember that there is a lock in period of 3months).

3. Once activated, you will receive new service books to your new blackberry handset. Check your messages folder if you receive those service books. By this time you can now surf the net via the web browser.

4. To setup your email, go to the browser and blackberry homepage in your bookmarks. You'll see a link to setup your email. Click on email setup after that. After this, setup is now a breeze. All you have to do is to enter your username and password for the email service you have (yahoo, gmail, etc)

5. You can also do this in by entering your BB pin (you can search for this in the settings or at the back of your device) and IMEI (press *#06# to know this) Globe's blackberry site at http://globe.blackberry.com

6. In the event that it will prompt that 'your serice is blocked or suspended', immediately call Globe Customer Service to have your number be activated with the service. You don't even have to give your IMEI or BB pin. This also works for 2nd hand phone by the way.

6. Now you are all setup! You can now surf and receive your emails to your phone!

Disclaimer: this settings and procedures was tried only with a Blackberry Curve 8520

Cupcakes by Sonja at Serendra

Spotted! Do you like gourmet cupcakes? Not the kind that you see in your neighborhood bakery. If yes, then you'l like Cupcakes by Sonja at Serendra in Bonifacio Global City. I was with my friend doing her despidida yesterday Jan19 cause she has to fly back to America Jan21. So we had like a late dinner dessert at Cupcakes by Sonja. In my opinion, the place was quaint. Though it needed more seats. It was just a small area like those of an ice cream parlor. The seats were just outside. Maybe like 7 to 10 tables only. So if you are thinking of a chillax moment among friends on a busy day at Serendra here in Cupcakes, forget it. Most probably, you'l not get seats.

The cupcakes here are superb. A sweet tooth's fantasy and diabetic's nightmare. They have alot of variety, they have chocolate, peanut, etc flavored cupcakes. What I really suggest you get is the Red Velvet. Yum!

They also have milkshakes and brewed coffee. Don't get the milkshake I suggest, or else you'll get the sugar rush of your life. I warn you also of their coffee; it is soo bitter! Well just the way I like it if I wanna wake up.

Cupcakes are priced OK for their quality. At 70 to 100 pesos, you'll surely smile.

Penang Grill at Promenade Greenhills

Spotted! M and I bought a blackberry last weekend at Greenhills. After that very tiring and stressfull haggling and walking along literally a thousand cellphone stalls, M told me that she was hungry and ready to eat. Well the reason also why we ate at Penang Grill was because we needed at socket plug to charge her new blackberry (we ended up buying a the Globe Business Center BTW). Anyway, obviously Penang Grill is Malaysian food. I would think that Malaysian food is a fusion of Filipino and Chinese food. M ate the Haianese Chicken or steamed chicken, and I hate Fish Fillet kari (lapu lapu). M's chicken kinda reminded me of chicken tinola only without the rice. Or maybe just because it was color white? It was also bland by the way because it was steamed. My fish fillet reminded me of chicken curry. Weird right? Or maybe it was just because it was soaked in some sort of red curry sauce. I would have to say asian cuisine has so many spices, and most of them acquired tastes! This trip to Penang Grill reminded why I hate Malaysian food so much. When we were in Kuala Lumpur, I didn't even go near those Nasi Lemaks and those curry stuff! So my recommendation? Be safe this time and not go for this asian resto.

By the way, their houseblend ice tea also sucks. I usually taste all houseblend ice teas, and so far, this is the worst. It was too sweet, almost like Nestea or Lipton.

The price was moderate. We paid almost 800 pesos for these dishes plus the 2 bottomless ice teas. Maybe you'll spend almost 300 per plate at this resto.

Cubao Expo Revisited

Revisiting Cubao Expo was quite a thrill at first. Was reading few blogs last year about how they reinvented the former Marikina Shoe Expo to a cultural and exciting place.

But after yesterday, I didn’t feel any burst in my red cells when I was there. It was the same place yes, of course same layout, few new shops but overall SAME. I saw Manong making tinda green mangoes plus bagoong (which i love!, can i just say), there was the old Rusty Lopez and some few antique shops i already visited na before. But i just thought, what the hell lets make kain and libot!

I just got excited on Bellini’s! Well who wouldn’t be, diba? I had pasta with some friends after the libot which took around 30 mins, well 20mins spent in Janilyn fitting open toes and python wedges. HAHA!

But here are some eclectic yet good shops you can check out if you need good stuff from the Cubao Expo.

The Heritage: for collectibles and the “culture-culture” paintings, want to see a 3 inch coke bottle, it’s the place to be.

My Apartment; I think this was already featured in Urban Zone, they have good home chorva, colored steel cabinets etc.

Well it was an experience but personally I wouldn’t go back!

For me?

Oh lovely!

Hermes in Greenbelt is Open!

We forgot to blog about this! Hermes in Greenbelt Makati now opens and, surprisingly, the opulent Filipinos flocked the store to get a hold of their Hermes, finally purchased in Manila. The word is Anton Huang was adamantly getting pre-orders from friends and contacts so the opening day will be exciting. True enough, it was a profitable launching day. We just love it. Hopefully the FGC will purchase another Hermes for their bag collection this 2010.

You know you love it!

Krispy Kreme Dozen Doughnuts

I did say that I will be on a diet after the fattening holidays, but I was not able to totally diet because Krispy Kreme compelled me to get a dozen doughnuts. I was ordering only my favorite new york cheesecake doughnut for merienda, but the very cute kuya from the Bonifacio High Street branch kept on smiling at me, egging me to buy more. So shamelessly, I gave in, smiled back at kuya cuteness and spent P 520 for the dozen, and some kaffe kreme coffee. And I think kuya was egging me cause they have a quota or something. Henneyway, shucks, this is so fattening. Maybe I will donate the Krispy Kremes to the beggars on the way home. Truebam! Korektiva! That's what I will do. Char! I change my mind, I will make lala everything. Chardeuce!

Love Purple

I love Purple! Had a meeting in Rockwell and since I was so effin' busy, believe it or not, it was my first chance to visit the Zara sale! PANIC-MODE ON! I think am getting tho, I got mostly office stuff. Yikes!

Good thing I amassed SSI's Purple Cards as gifts during this past break! And since I love pairing my purples with reds (very Tina Maristela-Ocampo), it payed for only half of my purchase. The other half? Happily obliged by my HSBC Red Mastercard! Aylavett! Swipe! Swipe! Swipe!

Purple Cards can be used for SSI stores such as Zara, Kate Spade, Lacoste, and Greenbelt 4 (except LV).

Pura was seen in Mang Inasal

I have failed. Just for curiosity, I broke our major rule - "we can never be seen eating in Mang Inasal." Yet i am here, chumming on a 95-peso Pecho Chicken Inasal Meal, 155-peso Bangus Sisig and some sago't gulaman for drinks. Now, i know what's the fuss about, and why Mang Inasal is eating up Jolibee's market - the food is amazing. Will be back here, but next time i will wear a full bumble bee Fendi shades. I still cannot be seen! Char!

Sequined Fingerless Gloves by Anne

I am such a genius! Brought by my creative juices and ambition to be one the top designers, voila my creation! It's a sequined fingerless glove for my night out with the girls. You will never be left on the bench with this. You will surely be noticed! This is one of my creation for my own GEDA New York fashion line.

QC Memorial Circle Puto Bumbong

Spotted! My second day here in QC Memorial Circle. After a long and tiring jog, aside from buko juice, I will treat myself with this puto bumbong. This well presented Filipino snack costs only 22 pesos at this store in the park. Who says it's only seen during Christmas?!

Fresh buko juice in QC Memorial Circle

Spotted! This buko juice stand inside the green QC Memorial Circle houses the best buko juice in the park. For about 20 pesos, you can have a whole buko. If you want it by glass, you can small, medium, and large which cost 5, 10, and 15 pesos respectively. For that price, your thirst will surely be quenched when you jog the circumference of the park. Back to my cardio!

Greenhills Cellphone and Tiangge Shopping

Spotted! Greenhills in it's usual glory during the post holiday drift. January 3 was not really that bad in GH. In fact, it was a really good day to shop. Parking was not that hard and it was not that warm either. Anyway, the reason why we went to GH was to canvass on new phones for me and M. We initially wanted a Blackberry 9700 thats costs 29k, but we finally decided to go for the Iphone 3gs worth 41k open line without a contract. We also looked at usual Nokia prospects like E71 and E72. Now with the new Globe Data Plan Super Surf, we are going to make use of all the features of the phone like GPS, 3g, FB and tweet on the go, and of course email. See you again in GH until we purchase our phones. Anyway, just for an estimated price of phones in Grennhills, you can go to www.greenhills.com.ph/cellphonegallore.asp but of course, nothing beats like strolling through at least 1000 stalls for the best price!
