ABD: Assuming Beki Disorder

Afflicting 87.36% of the homosexual population, ABD or the Assuming Beki Disorder is a psychological disorder of the gays which manifests as delusional fantasy of romantic love towards an individual of whom feels only fraternal or platonic love. The afflicted homosexual suffering from ABD often misconstrue friendly gestures as acts of romantic engagements, which most often leads to delusions of a happy ending version of Brokeback Mountain.

Signs and Symptoms of Assuming Beki Disorder

  • Coffee or Lunch or Cigarette breaks with the Subject of Delusion (SOD), is misconstrued by the Assuming Beki as a sign of courtship.
  • Text messages from SOD will be read by the Assuming Beki with full romantic emotions, leading to a blushing shuddering moment of joy despite the nonexistence of any mutual feeling.
  • Assuming Beki anticipates an SMS or Call from SOD every night, if not every hour of the day. If SOD did not communicate, Assuming Beki will initiate contact.
  • If SOD is a colleague of the Assuming Beki, the latter will not be able to concentrate on work nor be productive for the rest of the day as the Assuming Beki is conscious of every move SOD makes. Assuming Beki will then associate every effort of SOD as "pagapapacute effort-to-win-assuming-beki's-heart" - a forlorn endeavor.
  • An after work or school gimmick with SOD is propelled by the Assuming Beki as a date or a sign of deep interest on a possible future relationship.
  • As Assuming Beki observes SOD while playing sports, the former shall conclude that every time SOD gets a point its all for the Assuming Beki. Furthermore, every time SOD fixes his shorts or touch his major assets anywhere while playing, its all misconstrued as "pagpapapansin of SOD to Assuming Beki" - a probable flirtation event for the Assuming Beki's imaginings.
  • Every shopping decision or change in hairstyle or physical attribute must be along the lines of what Assuming Beki feels acceptable or titillating for SOD, which in turn shall feed the illusion that SOD will finally love Assuming Beki for such great change.
  • A sudden tap at the back, putting arm's across the shoulder or a slightly lingering touch from SOD will initiate a series of events for Assuming Beki and friends, which shall climax on a full force debate on SOD's alleged feelings for Assuming Beki via a conference call or a convene dinner night out at choice shalala aura restaurant.
  • Worst, Assuming Beki believes that SOD and friends are also talking about his feelings for Assuming Beki.
There are more signs and symptoms associated with the Assuming Beki Disorder. As of the moment, there is no known cure for ABD. Though a recent exposition advised that a steady slap on the face was documented to have helped some individuals.
Jaded! PAK!

Lechon Cubano and Nanay's Pochero by Abe Restaurant

One thing you will always expect from the LJC Group - great tasting food and excellent service. Truevali just loves their restaurant chains.

Last night's dinner at Abe is Lechon Cubano, which is an all time favorite. Surely Che Gueverra fighting with Fidel over the dish's crispy skin is naturally expected. I have also ordered Nanay's Pochero - those bits of Christmas ham is one stroke of gustatory brilliance. From Lorenzo's Way, Fely J's to Abe, we love you LJC! Truevali recommends you try these Abe dishes too.

We attracted Quickdelivery! Now here's a review on our 4th QuickDelivery Service Experience. The restaurant of choice, cinema date favorite - Taters.

Spotted! Yet another Quickdeliver.ph experience! This time it's not your usual sit-in resto, but your movie house favorite, Taters! Quickdelivery.ph has really made it possible for you to order your favorite meals from your favorite restaurants. The resto list is just growing! Good job quickdelivery.ph!

The Food by Taters

Anyway, in the pics are chicken turkey hotdog, all-beef steak, grilled chicken fillet, fish fillet ole, and chicken turket burger. I am a fish lover, so I would say the fish fillet ole is the best! Yummy!

Well, don't you forget! The number to dial is still 2121212 if you want to order from Taters from quickdelivery.ph. Check out their website to get a full list of restaurants. Their 10% off peak discount from 2pm-5pm still stands for cash transaction to save on that buck!

The Quickdelivery Experience: Agave

We attracted Quickdelivery! Now here's a review on our 3rd QuickDelivery Service Experience. The restaurant of choice, el restaurante mexicano - Agave.

The Food by Agave

Spotted! Another Quickdelivery food trip extravagaza! This time it's one of your Mexican favorites, AGAVE. If you are the burrito, chimichanga, quesadilla, and fajita type, then this resto will be good (not to mention their bottomless Margaritas!). For this order, we tried their Plato Supremo Familia which serves 5-6 people for only 1125 pesos (+10% delivery charge). It includes an assortment of beef, taquitos, chicken quesadillas, fresh mushroom empanaditas, crab and shrimp rellenos, yucatan chicken skewers, pork carmitas, and filete de pescado. Yummy, right?!

The Quick Delivery Service

As usual, Quickdelivery.ph did an awesome job in taking the order with their customer service representatives always know what are the best sellers! Well, you can always download the menu of your restaurant of choice from their website so that you can be ready with your order right before you call. As always, they never refuse an order even if you are not in the vicinity of the restaurant (Cool, huh?). But since it's just within Quezon City for this certain order, it just took less than 60 minutes for the delivery man to knock on my doorstep. Quickdelivery.ph is really on a roll with their new promos to entice new customers! Now they have an off peak promo which slashes 10% off of your total bill when you order between 2PM to 5PM and when you pay in cash! You can never go wrong with that! Beat that 8-MCDO!

Bistro Italian Sausage Ravioli in Romesco Sauce

Bistro Ravioli is one restaurant located at the SM Mall of Asia that's certainly hard to miss. Besides its chic clean ambiance, the food here is understatedly amazing and another thing - its inexpensive. First time I dined here I ordered La Pizza Margherita and their Molto Meatball Spaghetti, but this time I ordered their Italian Sausage Ravioli in Romesco Sauce for PHP 190. The ravioli was aldente as the sausage inside was tasteful and was not overcooked. The romesco sauce tasted like sweet almonds with a hint of roasted tomatoes and nyora or red bell peppers. I must say I would go back here again and again till I have a taste of their full pasta menu. Truevali recommends you sample Bistro Ravioli too.

Ya Kun Kaya Toast at Escriva Drive

It has been 6 months since I've last visited Singapore and I miss one of my favorite Asian cities. So instead of some Wee Nam Kee's Hainanese Chicken Rice at Ayala Triangle Gardens, I choose to celebrate my moda nostalgia Singapura at Ya Kun Kaya Toast Café along Escriva Drive in Ortigas, the Philippine branch of Singapore's famed coffee chain. I ordered their lovely menu set of French Toast with Coco Jam, which comes with 2 boiled eggs and a cup of pulled coffee and tea a.k.a. tarik. I must say I felt like I'm in Orchard Rd having breakfast more so as I ogle on the cute college boys hunkabods of the University of Asia and the Pacific. Lovely day! Truevali recommends you dine at Ya Kun Kaya Toast at Escriva Drive.

1st Colonial Grill

We heard a buzz for this restaurant so we tried it when we were at Naga. We ordered Paella Valenciana which was awesome, the mix was perfect and the sea food is fresh. Aside from the popular Sili Ice cream, you must order their Paella when you dine at 1st Colonial Grill. We also ordered the spicy chicken, which was not really spicy and their own take on pork sisig, which was so-so. Truevali recommends you try their sili ice cream and paellas. Till next Lala Aunor.

2nd Philippine International Pyromusical Competition 2011 South Korea and Spain

Better than Valentine's Day treat it was - The 2nd Philippine International Pyromusical Competition Day 1 with South Korea and Spain. We have watched this event last year (See Platinum Fireworks and Jubilee Fireworks Ltd. representing United Kingdom, who won last year's competition), but in our opinion, this year is an improvement. We liked the fact that before the start of the country's entry, a representative talent will perform first. For South Korean, the talented female violinist which we super loved, it was so culture-vulture experience. The Korean violinist was so fun though, she actually talked to audience in Korean and kept on saying "Mahal ko kayo"! Now, for Spain, it was 3 lady ensemble, dancing the sexy Flamenco, though it could have been better if some scantily clad Spanish men entertained all of us too. Char!

The only comment we have is that the Close-Up Valentine's Day event was mixed together with the Pyromusical segment, Sponge Cola performed as well as Sugar free. Well, it could've been a wild concert but the Close-Up people messed up the sounds system, and from where we were sitting at the VIP Buffet tables, a tacky and almost inaudible, echoing, screeches from the bands playing were being broadcasted by the messed up sounds system. Boo Close-up! You should have paid close attention to the people who actually paid more to see the Pyromusical and your Valentine's event.

But all in all, its worth every penny. The food was great too. Next week, I'm excited to see Portugal and the reigning champion - United Kingdom. Now, see below for the pyrotechnics video...

Bicolandia is Bigg's Diner

No one and I mean seriously no one must miss Bigg's Diner when you visit Bicol land. We went to Legazpi last year and was surprised that the faux TGIFridays looking restaurant a.k.a. Bigg's Diner, has rivaled the taste of the Baby Back Ribs of the former. I tell you the meat effortlessly falls off the bone, the barbeque taste is superb and that Cajun Chicken is as delish. I dunno, is it because in the providence Rhode island the farm to market roads are closer, thus the fresher tasting food?

Whatev it is, I say you guys should try Bigg's in Embarcadero de Legazpi. I hope we have Bigg's in Manila too. Now other than the poor plating of the food as compared to TGIFridays and the not so cute waiters, Truevali recommends you try dining at Bigg's too. Till next Lala Aunor.

Halo-Halo Special by Dayrit's

I love bebeth's restaurant! On hot days like earlier, I usually order Halo-Halo Special or Apple pie ala mode at Dayrit's when I pass by Bonifacio Global City. Lovely!

Dayrit's is located at the commercial strip in front of Sapphire Residences and just beside Pancake House at the Crescent Park West area of BGC.

Chic Hits the Fan

AS I am waiting on my 2PM appointment, I was reviewing some comments at Truevali. I noticed that on our 2009 BryanBoy feature, Ms Kitty Go posted a curious comment - about how the gay alien boy BBoy = Poser+fraudulent credit cards+non-preferred travel agents. Interesting read actually. But my post today is not about BBoy, but about the novelist and Fashion and Lifestyle Guru Ms Kitty Go. I found her writing witty, funny and obviously chic. I just LOL'd when I read her feature about The September Issue, Mr Go calling Grace Coddington a witch - no surprise there. Backflip! Now, I suggest you guys check out her blog and read her, it will be worth your while. So I think I will buy her books today, (that was a successful sales conversion, from blog to book sales, downscheteenk?!) Where can I purchase them Ms. Kitty? Well duh?! Obviously at Fully Booked Rockwell. We took this cool photo from her Facebook, (small world that we have mutual friends). Now I'm envious, I want some Mehndi on my hands and feet too.

Pochero and Crispy Pata by Chikaan Sa Cebu

Chikaan sa Cebu is a staple restaurant in the Queen City of the South. Last time I was in Cebu, we tried the SM Northwing branch instead of our favorite branch at Salinas Drive in Lahug. We ordered Pochero, which I felt was carelessly served with that big bone exposed, it looked like a massacre. Nonetheless, the soup was superb. We also ordered Crispy Pata, the Golden Cowrie version was more crispy but this is also almost as good.

Now, be careful drinking cold beverage with these dishes though, as the animal fat oil may harden once you drink that ice cold tea. We recommend hot tea when gorging on both of these sinful dishes. Truevali recommends you try the Pochero and Crispy P at the Salinas Drive branch instead. Till next Lala Aunor!

Grilled Chicken in Pomegranate Sauce By Maitre Chocolatier Boutique Café

As you know, I love Maitre Chocolatier - their concept, the ambiance and their food. Last time I was there, I ordered Grilled Chicken in Pomegranate Sauce. This I usually order since it has practically no carbs. The chicken is grilled to perfection as the sweet pomegranate sauce adds tarty, fruity freshness to the flavor of the chicken. The vegetables are always steamed just right, not too soft to mash but soft enough for every bite. Truevali recommends you order this dish too.

Maitre Chocolatier Boutique Café is located at Jupiter street in Makati, beside Starbucks and near Fiamma. Their Cebu city branch is at Ayala Terraces, just beside Healty Options, below Golden Cowrie.

Happy? Birthday PNOY

Truevali may be a bit biased on our statements on PNOY, since we do not like his know-it-all smirk and his apparent lack of perfect coiffure, fashion sense and political will. But can we just greet him Happy Birthday this time? Oh well, Happy Birthday Mr. President! Kisses XOXO!

Now for Mr. President's new year, we wish that he will find in himself the will to decide on what's best for the country as he subsequently take swift, decisive and wise actions. We would like to see real results this time, sir, we all know the 7% growth in the Philippine Economy was not all your doing. We should also thank PGMA for that I reckon.

We wish that you surround yourself with real competent cabinet members, who shall aid in the country's speedy progress, and not select them based on loyalty over talents. We hope that this time you will also react promptly on national issues like the Heidi Mendoza Revelations or the infamous Hong Thai Tourists Massacre. We wish that you do what is necessary however unpopular as the eviction and eventual relocation of the informal settlers in private and government properties. We wish that you will say less and do more, as we all know that you saying more creates ambiguity then misunderstandings. We also wish that you could be more tactful and not delve into your love life nor personal purchases for that is not really our interest. Finally, we wish that you can rid our country from the evils of graft and corruption, so no tragic suicides of what could have been great men as Angelo Reyes will ever happen again. We wish you the best PNoy! Happy Birthday Sir? Sure.

Starbucks VIA

Spotted! Ahoy caffeine addicts! If you are from the Philippines, you know that VIA has been launched very recently. But the flavors are just your usual italian roast and other boring flavors. In other countries, VIA has flavors like vanilla, caramel, cinnamon spice, and mocha. Why is the Philippines always last to have the good stuff?

Makansutra @ Manila Ocean Park

You would think this is just another food court which looks like the Food Republic chain in Singapore, but its actually a restaurant, of which its ambiance and decor is inspired with the Hawker culture of South East Asia.

Makansutra Asian Food Village is located at the lifestyle mall in the Manila Ocean Park complex, the menu is diverse as there are selections from the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong and other Asian culinary delights.

So we ordered, Bak Kuh The - Prime pork ribs soup which is just so-so; Nasi Goreng with Chicken Satay and Fried egg which tastes the same as in Orchard Rd in Megamall; Chili Sparwribs Taosi which is yummier had it been the pork ribs were fried first; Pad Thai which tastes the same as any Hawker but it was not better tasting than Oody's Pad Thai; Tofu with bean sprouts is also good, but I'm not so much of a Tofu fan.

All in all, the Hawker style restaurant of Makansutra is worth another dine. It reminded me of our travels in Singapore and Malaysia. Though I wished I ordered the Chili Crabs. Truevali recommends you try it too.

Fiesta Tower at Tia Maria's Cantina

Since we were kids, we loved eating at Tia Maria's, its still the best fusion Mexican restaurant maybe after Mexicali. The branch we love is the Katipunan one, since we sometimes love to ogle at the cute Atenean college boys drinking the night away all flush and ready for our pouncing. Char!.

That night of owling vultures, we ordered the Fiesta Tower at PHP 1,100, which is good for 4 to 5 people. Very Sulit as it is a very yummy meal. BBQ, Tacos and Quesadillas galore. We loved every munching moment of it, the Atenean Hunk candies certainly completed the ambiance. Love! Truevali recommends you try the Fiesta tower of Tia Maria's Cantina too.
